ALMONDS (benefits) – Nut Milk Recipe


Almonds are rich in vitamins and minerals and can be eaten as a quick and healthy snack, or mixed in with fresh fruits and vegetables or almond milk  in a smoothie.

Lower Your Cholesterol
Almonds  helps raise HDL cholesterol, or “good” cholesterol, levels, and also reduces LDL cholesterol, or “bad” cholesterol, levels.

Regulate Your Blood Pressure

Almonds are high in potassium and low in sodium, both are factors that regulate blood pressure.

Prevent Cancer
The fibre in almonds has a detoxifying effect. This fibre allows food to move through the digestive system more efficiently, cleansing the system and preventing colon cancer.

Almonds also have a stabilizing effect on sugar and insulin levels after meals, offering protection from diabetes.

Neural tube defects (NTDs), including spina bifida and anencephaly, are conditions where the neural tube is either not properly formed or is partially missing. Women who take folic acid prior to and during their pregnancies are less likely to give birth to babies with NTDs.

ALMOND MILK

– 1 cup almonds (soaked overnight in water)

– pinch of salt

– 1 tablespoon agave nectar ( you can buy at health food store)

– 6-8 drops of almond extract

– 4 cups of water

Drop almonds in blender and add 1 cup of water to start mixing, add salt, agave nectar and almond extract. Mix well.

Add water 1cup at a time until you have added the remaining 3 cups.
